We believe that corporate social investment is an investment in our future as a people,
as a company and as a country. As a large organisation serving communities across the
country, we have the chance to make a difference by putting back into the communities
in which we operate.
Rather than passive philanthropy, we have chosen a more hands-on approach to create
sustainability for recipients and encourage involvement from all our employees. Our
Community Involvement Programme (CIP) focuses on disadvantaged children and delivers
assistance and support to orphanages, care centres and institutions for the abused
and abandoned.
Other community initiatives include:
Outreach programmes in hospitals. These include free screening clinics, patient
support groups (clinical depression, cancer, cardiac disease, diabetes, rape crisis
intervention and counselling), drug awareness campaigns and HIV and Aids. Regular
community open days provide free health tests and information on a number of health
issues.
